Reactions: These delays are starting to border on trendy

In what can only be considered official confirmation of 2009 being an unfashionable year to release games, yet another AAA title has jumped ship to 2010. As part of its April-June earnings report, Activision-Blizzard has announced that Star Craft II: Wings of Liberty will not be taking flight until sometime in the first half of 2010. The culprit behind the delay is said to be the desire to release the title along side the company’s new and improved Battle.net service. And I thought it was bad when said service was just getting in the way of LANs in the name of anti-piracy.
This delay wasn’t entirely unexpected, but it does raise questions about other Blizzard titles. With Wings of Liberty now in 2010, how does that affect the remaining two components of the Starcraft II package? Or perhaps more pressing, how does this affect Diablo III? Will 2010 just be so awesomely packed tight that we’ll have no choice but to miss out on a dozen AAA titles so we can feed our families?

Video games are clearly more important than anybody else’s survival.
And anybody who found this delay at all surprising is clearly a ratard.

Considering how little you come out of the wood-work to comment, I have to wonder why you chose this story to make such a constructive statement?

I just wonder what the game industry is thinking? What are children going to get for Christmas this year? Parents will just have to tell their children that Santa won’t be coming this year, but he’ll bring double next year.
If there are so many game delays, wouldn’t one think that some would hold their holiday release date so that they could scrape in the bucks? I guess that’s what COD:MW2 is going to be doing. Fetch.

Many of these games are moving to avoid MW2, which I don’t really understand. I’d imagine most people will be buying more than one game this holiday season, so I don’t see why there’s all this fear over competing with MW2. Besides, they’re just moving themselves into an even more crowed quarter.

Also, on an unrelated note. Where did you come across this “fetch” saying? I’ve heard it before, but it’s not really prominent around here. I have to say, I’m not a fan.

So is that to say “fetch” is a mormon thing or an african thing? Lol.
