Reactions: Skate 3 coming in May 2010
In my opinion, the franchise that dethroned the venerable Tony Hawk series as the best skating games in town is beginning to cross that same bridge. It just seems like too many similar titles in too short a time span, and I feel like Skate‘s time on top of the cage is coming to an end. But if you’re still interested in the series, the newest entry looks to place a major emphasis on team-work and co-op play.
As a side note, don’t those animations look terrible for a game coming out in the year 2010? There’s nothing remotely realistic about them. “Balancing” during a grind looks about as good as it did back in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. Come on, now.

On top the cage.
And, secondly, it doesn’t really get better than THPS3, so there’s nothing to be ashamed about there.

Let’s turn this into a lively discussion. I think it does get better than THPS3, with Tony Hawk’s Space Jam. The only way Skate could possibly hope to compete is with Skate’s Sea Floor Palooza. Or maybe they should just add a gravity gun to one of these skateboarding games and see what happens.

Or just base one of them on the moon! Wait, did THPS already do that?

Skate Heaven doesn’t count because it was only one level. Imagine the things they could to today with all the advancements in physics and graphics and such. I’m all for the Tony Hawk Space Tour. The story could be a humorous quest through alien lands in search of some legendary skate relic, and there could be battles with the gravity gun, and the whole other planets and outer space deal would allow for some truly breath-taking art direction.
I want this game. I want to grind all over Saturn’s rings. I want to spiral down a black hole like a drained pool. I want to be dressed as an astronaut while I skateboard.

It’d be like THPS meets Super Mario Galaxy… Brilliant!
