Reactions: Rumor round-up

Word around the camp fire is that there might be a Wii remake of the N64 classic GoldenEye on the way. The rumor has its roots in the resume of an animator by the name of Craig Peck which lists work on a “GoldenEye 2010 (Wii)”. The good Mr. Peck apparently did the work for Eurocom, the studio responsible for the PS2 port of 2008′s Quantum of Solace.

However, that is all the information presently available. Gven the previous licensing issues with remaking the beloved shooter and Activision’s penchant for whoring recognizable names, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that this is not a true remake in the vein of the Perfect Dark remastering coming to XBLA next year, but rather some garbage shovel-ware title clinging to the James Bond and GoldenEye names. I’ll keep you updated on that.

Today’s second rumor seems a little more likely though. In an interview with Massachusetts paper The Republican, The Who’s lead vocalist Roger Daltry said that the iconic British rockers will be getting their own Rock Band game. “The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year,” said Daltry while chatting about The Beatles: Rock Band. “There is one planned.”

It’s unclear whether or not that means full-blown game treatment like the fab-four received or just some sort of DLC collaboration. But considering The Who’s already heavy presence in the Rock Band franchise, it certainly wouldn’t be a stretch to see a proper spin-off title. Either way, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be rocking to some Who in 2010. Here’s to hoping they put “Squeeze Box” in.
