Reactions: Brink gets delayed, suddenly looks interesting
Last time we heard anything about the Bethesda-produced Brink back at E3, it sort of looked like a generic futuristic shooter with a cool spin on how multiplayer and single-player work together. In this game, rather than the two modes being entirely separate entities, the player has the option to play the entire campaign alone, but he is heavily encouraged to take his game online once he’s gotten the hang of it and play out a fictional civil war as a mere cog in the great online war-machine. This video here throws a big curveball at us, suddenly revealing that Brink is Mirror’s Edge-lite too. The “SMART” movement system certainly doesn’t quite match the intensity of EA’s innovative but flawed 2008 title, but it does completely change the way a traditional FPS is played. In Splash Damage pulls this off right, we could be playing a very unique game come Fall 2010. Man, that’s going to be such a great year.

Here’s some more videos that show the game in action. While the gunplay doesn’t really look up to par at this point in time, I do really like the objective system they have, especially when you consider its implications in an online environment.
