Reactions: Lara Croft returns!
Not enough enormous boobs in your life? Well, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix want to remedy that situation for you with this summer’s Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a completely new (and downloadable) take on the iconic Tomb Raider franchise. Based on the Indiana Jones-inspired name, I’d say they’re off to a good start. The name isn’t the only radical change to the formula, though. The new title is said to have a more arcadey feel that focuses more on addictive gameplay and high scores than story. But not to worry, the classic platforming elements return to the action as well. And best of all, this new isometric take on Tomb Raider is designed around co-operative play. For more details on The Guardian of Light check out this preview.
All and all, this sounds like a fun co-op title to me that likely won’t cost very much. I wouldn’t consider it a true Tomb Raider successor, but I wouldn’t mind split-screening it with a pal either. Oh, and boobs.

It occurred to me FFXIII next (this?) week is the first one I’ll be going into with legitimate NEGATIVE expectations. It was like, X-2 I went in loving X so much that I actually came away with at least some love for the world I was revisiting. XI was an opportunity to get to know fellow Final Fantasy fans. XII, I thought, was the long awaited true successor in the series after X, and I went in wanting to love and cherish everything about it.
This one is the one where I’m fed up being disappointed – I’m going in, fully expecting to hate it. More than that, I’ll be going in WANTING to hate it if only to validate my hatred for each installment of the series for the past like, 8 years. And lucky for me, all the true Final Fantasy fans who have played it have said it blew even harder than XII, which will really be something.
I just don’t get it. They fuckin’ spit out 7 through 9, what I would consider some of the best of the series and probably what most consider the golden age of it, in the same amount of time it seems like has passed between XII and XIII, and it will end up being a total shit storm. FUCK Square Enix!!11
They killed Final Fantasy, and Nintendo is raping Zelda’s image with these shitty DS games on the other side. The moment Nintendo releases a bad console Zelda game is the moment I will officially be a broken man.

Yeah, things are looking bleak. I for one, have been saying for years that Nintendo should create a new mascot specifically designed to utilize the Wii’s strengths. And as for FF, I suppose anything would suck by the 13th iteration. We need new IPs to replace these old, dying ones.
