Reactions: Gears of War to turn again in April, 2011?

Rumor has it that we might be seeing the conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy (which has never officially been confirmed as a trilogy) in that month before the one with the flowers next year. Edge cites “a trusted US publishing source” and also claims that there will be a big reveal trailer sometime next month, with details to follow at E3.

Going beyond the “trusted US publishing source,” the fact that Microsoft is already putting Halo: Reach and “Project Natal” out in the 2010 Holiday season gives some credibility to the later release date of Gears 3. And given that the Epic-owned People Can Fly is aiming to release their own shooter in Q1 of 2011, it wouldn’t make very much business sense to put another Epic title out in the same quarter. April definitely seems like a realistic time frame for the highly-anticipated sequel, although I’d guess May myself.
