Reactions: Next GTA codenamed Rush?

It has come to my attention that some people still care about Grand Theft Auto even after the snore-fest that was GTA IV. I get that Rockstar writes better than anybody in the industry, but if there’s no fun gameplay to go with it then I may as well just go watch a movie. Anyways, in the event that you like to stretch your crime dramas into 40 hour epics, you might be interested in Grand Theft Auto V, which hasn’t been officially acknowledged but is almost certainly being developed as we speak.
And according Superannuation (via GameSpot), that next GTA might be code-named “Rush” and set in L.A. The theory is the result of weeks of detective work, starting with an actor whose resume said he’d done some motion-capture work for GTA 5. The reference has since been deleted, but the red flag drew attention to motion-capture casting calls from Telsey & Company, Rockstar’s “go-to” casting studio. One of the projects soliciting actors was called “Rush,” which has been linked to Rockstar by actor Robert Esparza, who tweeted, “Got body scanned for my role in the video game ‘Rush’, coming out on Rockstar Games.”
GameSpot goes on to note the specifics of the casting calls:
The casting call in question, which commenced on December 6, sought actors to do motion capture and voice work for eight “additional principal characters” on the interactive project. The personalities have a decidedly Rockstar feel, with stock characters such as the “annoying, wise cracking, highly successful FBI agent” mixed with absurd personalities such as the “Welsh monk / cult leader / yoga teacher – 50, very lithe, very into exploring your personal tension through gripping massage.”
Other characters referenced in the listing include a “weed evangelist”; a “swinger, mellow Californian divorcee” who is “ugly but comfortable with self”; and a “publicist for an actress known as America’s newest sweetheart…who just so happens to love animals, orphans, drugs and sex.”
Putting two and two together, it sounds like we’re probably going to be hearing about a GTA set in sunny L.A. soon, perhaps as early as E3. Then again, L.A. Noire could just be going in an unorthodox direction…

GTA IV was probably the best installment in the series, if I ignore nostalgic bias for Vice City and III. The gritty realism, both in story and in the demanding car driving, was a wonderful turn away from the bad joke that was San Andreas.
And there is nothing I would love more than exploding modern LA. I love this news.

I agree that San Andreas was the worst; I couldn’t even finish it I was so bored. But to actually think IV is better than III? III single-handedly changed the face of video games forever. It was the game that convinced me to buy a PS3. It is quite simply, one of the greatest games of all time. Vice City improved on that formula mechanically and had a more novel setting but obviously wasn’t as revolutionary. GTA IV? Great story, boring game. I wanted to send Dwayne back to the inside after the 50th time he called to tell me how much life sucked since he got out. The whole friend system for horribly mishandled.

I refuse to speak ill of GTAIII, and the friend system DID suck, so it looks like we can both
