Reactions: Will Wright Has Stupid Fun After Leaving EA

After twelve years of faithful service at EA, Will Wright has left the publisher to focus on his own “think tank” called Stupid Fun Club. Will Wright, as many of you probably already know, is best known for creating titles such as SimCity, The Sims, and most recently, Spore. The new think tank will focus on “developing new Intellectual Properties to be deployed across multiple fronts including video games, movies, television, the internet, and toys,” yet EA will still have the right to develop video games based off of Stupid Fun Club’s ideas. CEO of EA, John Riccitiello, said “”We believe in Will’s vision for Stupid Fun Club and we’re looking forward to partnering with Will and his team long into the future,” so it would seem that there’s going to be a close partnership between the two.
Good luck to ya, Will, and I hope we see some awesomely crazy projects come out of this.
