Reactions: Civlization V Gets Its First Expansion

2K Games recently announced the first expansion for Civilization V, Gods & Kings. The expansion pack heralds the return of religion and espionage to the epic turn-based strategy game among many other additions and improvements. Check past the break for what other wonders await you.
Specifically, nine new wonders await you. As well as 27 new units and 13 buildings. But it’s not all inanimate objects and cannon fodder, nine entire civilizations are being thrown into the mix. You’ll get to advance through the ages with the likes of the Celts, the Netherlands, and Carthage. Two new types of AI controlled city-states, mercantile and religious, are getting thrown in for good measure as well.
Three new scenarios, including the fall of Rome and the Medieval era, are being added, but the coolest one? “Empires of the Smoky Skies,” a “Victorian science-fiction scenario.” Here’s hoping for some zeppelins and dirigibles.
Once you enter the Renaissance, all’s fair, as espionage becomes an option for overthrowing your enemies (or allies). You can rig elections, or just have your spies stab some dudes in the face in a coup.
Check out the link for the full breakdown, and you can look forward to some face stabbin’, dirigible ridin’ good times come “late spring 2012.”
