Reactions: Uncharted 2 to have multiplayer?

According to GameSpot, pre-order promotions at Best Buy have leaked Sony’s “electrifying” announcement regarding inFamous and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves that was set for Monday. Apparently anybody who pre-orders inFamous will not only gain early access to the demo, but receive a voucher for the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta.

The key word here is “multiplayer.” As you might know, the first Uncharted is a well regarded game, but one that is to be appreciated in solitude. And gaming blog Screw Attack said, “There is regular multiplayer and co-op missions that can be done, but the co-op in question is not the single-player campaign with another person.” So given the multiple sources, it is more than likely that we’ll be seeing multiplayer in Uncharted 2. I just question the need for any. I mean, I don’t really see competitive multiplayer being that great with a game like that, and the only time I’ve seen co-op that wasn’t based off of the campaign work out was in 007: Everything or Nothing…that game was awesome, man.
