E3 09: Hideo Kojima Announces New Metal Gear Solid for Xbox 360

Hideo Kojima popped up out of nowhere at the Microsoft Press Conference today to announce a new Metal Gear Solid game that’s “in development” for the Xbox 360. It’s called “Metal Gear Rising” and will apparently star everybody’s favorite Metal Gear Solid character, Raiden. The short teaser for the game showed what was basically the same image seen on the Kojima Production’s teaser site along with pictures of Raiden. I remain skeptical whether a good Metal Gear game can be made that doesn’t star Snake, but the teaser did include the words “lightning bolt action”, so it can’t be all bad, right?

Meh. Honestly I don’t know how to feel about this. It’s like if there was a God of War (y’know, one of the most overrated games in the history of gaming) game coming to the ‘box. It’s like, on one hand, go Microsoft. On the other hand, keep that shit off my console.

I guess I’ll just … leave it at that.
