Trailers: Latest Dragon’s Dogma dev diaries
Urging us to “touch and explore all around” us. I can only imagine what the developer’s offices are like…but in all seriousness, I can’t think of another RPG on the market with combat that looks as slick and downright epic as this. And with the whole pawn idea (seen below), where your party members can quest with other players when you’re not playing, gain knowledge of quests, areas, and enemies, not to mention experience, and then bring that knowledge back to you in the heat of battle, I think that Dragon’s Dogma could really be onto something special. It might not be getting the marketing it deserves in the west, but everything I’ve seen of it tells me that it has the potential to compete with other RPGs like Skyrim.

I mean, that red thing on top of the lead dev’s head has to be some sort of magic amplifying cowl, right? And it allows him to carry out conversations with “smart cats”? Clearly, he’s a man that is committed to the role of a wizard when he swings that wand around his house.

Not crazy about the whole experience thing (does every game really need to do this?), but I love what they’re doing to make dynamic, multi-game-type, narrative multiplayer. Of course, sometimes you’ll want to just hop into a regular old deathmatch, and that’s an option. But it’s nice to have the Killzone style of multiplayer where you have to be ready to shift tactics on a dime spreading to other games.
Author: CodyTrailers: Lend an ear to Halo 4′s new composer
Most people would be terrified to shake up the iconic sound of such a big series. After all, Marty O’Donnell is one of the most legendary composers in all of video games. That’s why I really respect Halo 4‘s new composer, Neil Davidge, for all of the things he says in this interview. I think the sampling of music we get speaks for itself, but Davidge’s confidence alone is enough to convince me that at least one portion of the game will live up to the franchise’s legacy.

I admire IO Interactive’s desire to provide players with choice, but it sort of takes the tension out of sneaking when you can just shoot your way out if you screw up. Maybe if there are some sort of tangible rewards for taking the more difficult stealth route, or if there are story consequences for announcing your entrance with a .357 Magnum, maybe then I could support this focus on “choice.” But we have yet to hear about anything of the sort, so the way I see it, it’s only a choice of whether you want to take the most direct path or if you want the personal satisfaction of not being the world’s worst assassin.

The developers certainly sound passionate about what they’re working on (and why wouldn’t they be with so many cool props around the office?), and the general idea sounds cool enough, but I’m just not hearing anything that really separates Enemy Unknown from the pack. Maybe the destructable environments, but the little bit of gameplay we’ve seen hasn’t really shown that, oddly enough. Maybe some fresh gameplay videos will completely change my mind, but until Firaxis releases them, I just can’t take this fine gentleman on his word.

You know what, I was skeptical at first, but that actually looks super cool and well thought out. The level progression and weapon upgrade stuff feels like a much more natural fit in the melee-centric mythological setting, as opposed to the artificial padding it often feels like in FPSes. The action looks really slick as well, and the focus on objectives and team work should prevent it from becoming a mindless brawler. I dare say that this multiplayer could spawn a whole new sub-genre of competitive gaming.
Author: CodyTrailers: Check out some snippets of Dishonored gameplay
There’s not a whole lot in there, but considering no gameplay vids have been released thus far, I figure the glimpses we get here are worth enduring such terrible grammar for. And yeah, Dishonored‘s looking pretty cool.
Author: CodyTrailers: Leaked video of Rayman Legends
Ubisoft has confirmed that this leaked video was “was destined for internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits[...]This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features.”

I guess the glowing reviews just weren’t enough for CD Projekt’s marketing team. But I suppose this video is making me eagerly anticipate the day that I have enough time to buy a game that I wish I could have been playing a week and half ago, so mission accomplished. Also, did one of those dudes say something about Indiana Jones? Please tell me one of those dudes said something about Indiana Jones.
