If aliens and zombies were in the discussion, maybe Modern Warfare 3 will have Soviet Mind-Control Bears!
Feature: A new look on game genres

This guy's probably penetrated more genres than anybody else.
So I’ve been playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed II this past week, and as you might know, it’s got me thinking about game genres and what defines them. It seems that the lines between genres are becoming less and less defined these days, but there’s still a pretty stark difference despite the blending. So let’s start off by taking a look at what traditionally defines the major genres of today’s market.

Author: CodyReactions: Dragon Age “Return to Ostagar” DLC announced

Can’t get enough Dragon Age? Even the day one DLC couldn’t quench your thirst for Darkspawn blood? Well, EA and BioWare have just the thing for you then! The announcement came today of a new DLC pack titled, “Return to Ostagar”, that will retail for $4.99 (400 MSP) sometime this holiday season. Details are fairly scarce at this point, but it is nice to see BioWare rolling out a steady stream of DLC for their acclaimed RPG, even if it is a bit early.

That is a moment that just makes you say, “Wow.” The best part is that that sort of thing seems to be standard fare in the fully destructable online world of DICE’s up-coming shooter. This game could turn out to be really good, especially if the single-player turns out half as good as the multiplayer looks.

Score: Great
Difficulty played on: Hardened
Time to beat: 5-6 hours
Loved the most: Special-Ops mode.
Hated the most: Ridiculous and muddled story with plot holes the size of Texas.
Here it is–the game that everybody’s been waiting for for two years. Ever since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare revolutionized the FPS genre people have been eagerly awaiting Infinity Ward’s next effort and Activision has been all too happy to oblige the anticipation with one of the largest hype machines video games have ever seen. Realistically though, it would be an incredible feat for Modern Warfare 2 to even come close to setting the standards that its predecessor did. But those are the expectations that were created, and much like the case of Halo 3, the actual product is a shadow of the hype surrounding it. That doesn’t stop Modern Warfare 2 from being an incredibly fun and addictive game though; it’s just one that’s stagnated and in some situations, even regressed from the classic that came before it.
Author: CodyReactions: Three rumors you may or may not want to hear

"If only I had teammates to help me out of this jam..."
We’ll start out with what could be the most disheartening. You’d think after Dead Space thoroughly stomped Resident Evil 5 in the scary isolation department Visceral might have taken that concept to heart and stuck on the path of a supremely crafted single-player game. But according to 1UP, a recent job listing for a “Senior Online Level Designer” on the Dead Space 2 team indicates that the survival-horror sequel will be seeing some kind of online multiplayer aspect. The description of the job calls for someone who can “conceptualize, script, direct, and build online levels for the game,” and “own the level design for the online game, be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels.” I’m not one to write off ideas before I see them, but this sounds a little misguided. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
