InsaneBear is back and crazier than ever

What I mean by that is that I plan to crank up operations throughout the next week until we’re back to normal. Expect a Red Dead Redemption review. Expect a great feature. Expect a podcast. Expect insanity! Oh, and until all that stuff goes up, just expect cute pictures of animals.

InsaneBear is taking a little break

Because women are irrational and heartless creatures…So sorry if everybody was looking forward to all my crack reporting, but you’re not getting it for a while. Who am I kidding? The site stats show that everybody has pretty much abandoned the site for the month of July. 2010 has been a shitty year.

Yeah, whatever, I don’t really feel like writing all this crap out and nobody’s going to read it anyways, so have some links.

Reactions: EA reveals Darkspore

It’s a Diablo-esque action-RPG based around the concepts of Spore. Since I’m in a lazy mood, I’ll just go ahead and link you a fuller description. It actually sounds like it could be cool.

Trailers: Red Faction: Armageddon interview

While I’m not really interested in the game myself (I still can’t believe they’ve tainted this series with the third-person perspective), it does look like it’s doing a couple interesting things. And I can always respect games with crazy guns. In fact, watching this gameplay made me wonder why a game I am looking forward to, Bulletstorm, doesn’t have more crazy guns. I mean, its whole angle is crazy and creative shooting action, so how come there aren’t any guns that shoot black holes? But, uhh, yeah, Red Faction: Armageddon might be for you.

Trailers: Get the lowdown on Monday Night Combat’s sniper

Well, the sniper sort of seems like a jerk, and the game itself seems to be failing miserably in it’s attempt to steal Team Fortress 2‘s personality, but it does look half-way fun. And considering Ryan and I mentioned this title by name on a recent podcast and had no idea what it was, I figured I should probably post a video to give everybody an idea of what to expect for their $15.

Trailers: Uninformative Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light trailer

I’m posting this because I’m interested in the game, but seriously, could that trailer have been any less informative? Alright, so the guns include an assault rifle and a flame thrower. Does that cover it? Is that everything they needed to get out to the public in trailer form? Good Lord…

Reactions: Tim Schafer and Double Fine working on 4 “indie-style” games

First off, if you want to know what that awesome picture is all about, go read this lovely article at Kotaku. But onto the news! At the recent Develop 2010 Conference, legendary game developer Tim Schafer had a few words to say. Of interest to us, the man behind Grim Fandango and Psychonauts talked about how EA decided not to go ahead with a sequel to last year’s heavy-metal adventure Brutal Legend, and in turn, Double Fine decided to move away from AAA games and into smaller, “indie-style” games.

Reactions: James Bond 007: Blood Stone announced

You know, that trailer actually doesn’t look half bad. Then again, it could just be the stunning quality (or lack there of) of the last Bond film and pretty much any Bond game since Everything or Nothing that puts this new entry in a good light. GameSpot reports that Blood Stone will “combine cover-based shooting, hand-to-hand combat, and driving” in a campaign that takes players through “Athens, Istanbul, Monaco, and Bangkok, with both land and sea-based action.” As much as I like sea-based action, this one doesn’t sound entirely original or promising so far. The “16-player multiplayer modes based around spies versus mercenaries team play” doesn’t bode well for Activision’s latest either. But hey, at least it’s got the voice and likeness of Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, and some chick named Joss Stone!
