Reactions: Xbox Live gets $10 price hike

Upset with The $50 disparity between Xbox Live and PlayStation Network (as in, PSN is free)? Upset with all those ads on your Xbox dashboard despite the fees you pay? Well then, you probably won’t be happy to hear this. Starting November 1st, the annual fee for XBL Gold Membership is going up to $60. The month-by-month plan is also rising from $8 to $10, while the three-month plan is going up from $20 to $25. But it’s not all bad! Microsoft will be offering discounts on the service up until the new price is implemented. Specifically, you can get a full year of service for $40 right now, $10 cheaper than usual.
Author: CodyFeature: 7 subjects games need to examine to be considered art

Editor’s Note: This feature was supposed to provide in-depth pitches for games that could do these topics justice, but given the complexity of each subject, that would require a lot of work and thought on my part. Usually I love exercising my creativity like that, but this is my first weekend at college and I’m just trying to stay on my feet. Plus I hit my head earlier tonight and it hurts like hell, so you’re lucky to even get this.

Hey, so I totally wanted to put a feature up this weekend and all that good stuff, but I’m in a bit of a whirlwind right now with the move to college. I’ll try to get things back up to snuff within the next few days.
Author: CodyWrite About Games 2.0: Giving it a chance

Come on, people. It's not like you have to carve it in stone!
So normally I would have terminated such an underutilized section of the site with extreme prejudice with InsaneBear’s quarterly refinements, but I’m going to go ahead and give this second chance of a section a second chance of it’s own. I know all of my current readers are creatively bankrupt bums with nothing to say here, but I’m hoping some of the chaps I meet at college might be interested in this sort of thing. “What exactly is ‘this sort of thing?’” you ask? Well, it’s a place where any registered user can write their own rant, rave, or any other reflections on video games. Doesn’t matter what the topic is as long as it’s tied to video games some how. Could be a scholarly essay, could be a charming poem. Be as creative or straight-forward as you want. Say what’s on your mind. Just say something! I’m hoping somebody with a passion for video games feels compelled to say something about our favorite pastime. Share it with the IB community!

Makes me wonder why that Halo movie never got made. Oh, well.
Author: CodyTrailers: 007: Blood Stone doesn’t look half bad
Certainly not the prettiest game I’ve ever laid eyes on, but it looks like there’s the potential for some fun in there. And it is being made by Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing series), so I’d imagine the driving parts have to be good.

Finally, some DLC I care about. If you know me then you know that I am loath to waste $5-$10 on forgettable, meaningless, tacked-on content. But $7 to find out what really happened to one of the most interesting characters in my favorite game of 2009? Sign me up! The description on BioWare’s website gives a vague idea of what to expect:

A game that actually makes me want a Wii? Must be doing something right.
