Reactions: Microsoft to buy EA?
Word on the street (via 1UP) is that hardware giant Microsoft is looking to acquire the second largest third-party publisher in the industry. While this all purely rumor and Reuters has dismissed it as “unsubstantiated chatter,” it is worth noting that EA’s stock is up 5.24% to $19.36 and Microsoft’s increased by 0.9% to $26. Somebody out there is putting stock (of the literal sort) into this rumor.

In what can only be considered official confirmation of 2009 being an unfashionable year to release games, yet another AAA title has jumped ship to 2010. As part of its April-June earnings report, Activision-Blizzard has announced that Star Craft II: Wings of Liberty will not be taking flight until sometime in the first half of 2010. The culprit behind the delay is said to be the desire to release the title along side the company’s new and improved Battle.net service. And I thought it was bad when said service was just getting in the way of LANs in the name of anti-piracy.
