alpha protocol

Trailers: Ladies Love Cool Mike

I totally stole that headline from GiantBomb, but it was too good to pass up. As for the actual game, could I please see some extended gameplay and more than three characters?

Trailers: Where in the world is Alpha Protocol?

Apparently, it’s in the part with sub-par graphics and inappropriately dressed Russian women. I’m still hoping Obsidian can weave together an intriguing story in this suspenseful world of espionage, and maybe they will, but my excitement for Alpha Protocol has only dwindled over the past couple months. Maybe if they listed outer-space as one of the locales in the game I’d be back on the wagon, but much to my dismay, it appears as if we’ll be staying in this atmosphere.

Trailers: More info on Alpha Protocol

I know what Ryan’s going to say, but I think I’ve developed a sickness where I buy games even when I’m not entirely sure about their quality or value anymore, so it’s no use. Maybe I should wait for the reviews on this one and finally try a Final Fantasy game instead if it doesn’t score well.

Reactions: Alpha Protocol goes into effect June 1st

Yup, Obsidian’s first ever original IP will make it’s oft-delayed debut this June, extending the streak of good gaming months in 2010 to six. I know I’ll certainly appreciate a unique new action-RPG that puts me in the role of an international spy during the traditionally lean months of summer. Now I’m just curious if July, August, and December can fill out to make it an entire year of AAA releases. That would probably be a first.

Reactions: Alpha Protocol officially delayed

Youre going to regret this delay, punk.

"You're going to regret this delay, punk."

Kotaku‘s confirmed the delay of Obsidian’s under-the-radar espionage RPG Alpha Protocol. Originally slated to come out in early October, the unorthodox RPG from the makers of KOTOR II has been pushed back to a broad “Spring 2010″. That’s really too bad, considering it will never sell in such a crowded window. Maybe Sega should just hold out a little bit longer and release it over the summer.

Reactions: Alpha Protocol’s looking pretty alpha

Brucie would be proud…well, actually, there’s probably not enough loose women or fast cars in there for Brucie, but it still looks good to me. On second thought, there could be loose women and fast cars, but I feel safe in saying that there will be a considerable lack of bull shark testosterone. But that’s besides the point. The point is, this relatively fresh looking RPG seems to be slipping under everybody’s radar. If they get rid of that e-mail garbage then I’m on board with everything in that video. Look for Alpha Protocol this October.

Reactions: Alpha Protocol looks pretty cool

I haven’t really followed this game at all until now because I always confused it with Prototype before. You know, because of the P words. But now that Prototype has passed us by in all its generic open world glory, I can finally focus on this much cooler looking game from Obsidian. I’m not entirely sure how much I want RPG stats to be affecting my tactical espionage action, but I am interested in a secret agent story-line given as much attention as RPG stories get. Plus this game puts a timer on your conversation responses, so dialogue could actually feel somewhat natural. And I hear it’s forgoing the in vogue moral meters of late for the considerably less judgmental James Bond vs. Jack Bauer personality meters. So far, so good.
