Reactions: Diablo III coming to consoles?

If some recent job listings spotted by Gamasutra are any indication, the traditionally PC oriented Blizzard team is looking for “lead designer, console,” “lead programmer, console,” and “senior producer, console” for Diablo III. The lead designer position is asking for applicants with “prior experience in console game development” and an “extensive knowledge of Diablo.” The lead programmer ad calls for “an experienced engineer to lead console development on the Diablo team.”

That there would be what we refer to as a Demon Hunter. If you’d like a great deal of details on how the class will play, then you want to be here. If you’re content with cinematic trailers and brief snippets of gameplay, then you’re pretty much covered right here at the good ole IB of A.
Author: CodyReactions: Starcraft II expansion 18 months away?

We’ve known from the start that Starcraft II would ship in three separate editions with each offering a campaign unique to one of the game’s three factions. Wings of Liberty detailed the human exploits back in July, and Blizzard’s Battle.net project director Greg Canessa may have let slip the release window for the Zerg faction’s time in the spotlight. In a Q & A session following Canessa’s presentation at the GDC Online event, a question dealing with future Battle.net features such as trading replays, broadcasting replays, and upgrading profiles prompted Canessa to mention the Zerg expansion, Heart of the Swarm. “[They are] a main area of focus we’re going to be seeing on the Starcraft side over the next 18 months between now and Heart of the Swarm.”

So apparently this commercial debuted during the NBA finals the other night (does anybody here even know who’s playing?). I wonder how many casual gamers will be tricked into thinking Starcraft II is a sci-fi shooter?

GameSpot‘s reporting that the highly anticipated sequel to the classic sci-fi RTS will finally be making its way into wanna-be space marines’ hands this summer. Well, at least the human-centric Wings of Liberty portion of the three-part sequel will be releasing on July 27th. But at the rate Blizzard’s been going, it might be another 20 years or so before we get to experience the full story of Starcraft II. But hey, at least you’ll have something to play in the mid-summer drought!

Reactions: Diablo III monk class revealed
With Starcraft II hitting store shelves in early 2010 and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm likely coming sometime in the next year, Blizzard fans have plenty to occupy themselves with. But the game that might be exciting the most gamers is Diablo III. While it’s still far off from any sort of release window, that hasn’t stopped Blizzard from rolling out new classes to the public. The character they demonstrated at this year’s Blizzcon is called the Monk, and is said to be a fast and combo-heavy fighter who dishes out massive damage but who can’t take much himself. If you’re interested in all the intricacies of the new class and want to find out how Street Fighter inspired its development, check out the GiantBomb interview below.

Firstly, I’d just like to apologize to all ye faithful readers out there for the pathetically meager output of news this past week. I’ve been away on vacation, so you know…But yeah, while I was gone, some pretty big stuff happened in the realm of video games. Like for instance, the announcement of a new World of Warcraft expansion. I hear people like that game, hopefully not for the God-awful narration though. But all kidding aside, it sounds like plenty of changes are coming to the most popular MMO on the face of the planet. The trailer above pretty much covers everything, so why don’t you just check that out instead of making me write it all out for you?
