bulletstorm
Review: Bulletstorm

Score: Meh
Difficulty played on: Hard (second hardest of four settings)
Time to beat: 9 hours
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Loved the most: The absurdly juvenile vibe that permeates both dialogue and gameplay.
Hated the most: Disappointing lack of depth to the much-hyped skillshot system.
In the interest of full disclosure, I should let you know that Bulletstorm is a game which requires an online pass unless it is purchased new. I got it through GameFly and did not purchase the pass, missing out on six Echoes (score-attack) maps and a silver colored leash. I’m really bummed about that leash, but I somehow doubt it would have been enough to change my assessment of the game.

Well, at least it would if the guys at Epic showed a little musical taste (we know you’ve got it in you, guys!).
Author: CodyTrailers: Check out the arsenal that is generating this storm of bullets
Personally, I’m a little disappointed in the lack of creativity. Where’s the Aaron Rodgers gun? You know, the one that lasers rocket-propelled footballs through enemies’ chests with 86% accuracy. I need four shotgun barrels just about as much as I need the Patriots to beat the Jets.

In anticipation of People Can Fly’s obnoxious and wacky Bulletstorm, which is set to release on February 22nd, you might need more than an imaginative commercial to hold you over. But have no fear, ye sadistic killers! EA is putting out a demo for the game on January 25th that will include “Echo mode, a score-based experience featuring the game’s campaign environments” and a limited arsenal of weapons and skill shots to toy around with.

That guy is wayyy to pumped. And based on the footage I’ve seen, I have to question Dude Huge’s knowledge of what Firefly is all about.

Say what you will about the obnoxious dialogue, but that gameplay looks obnoxiously fun. Plus, THERE’S AN EFFIN’ DINOSAUR-MONSTER! But really, everybody would probably be better off if they just never mentioned strap-on dildos again in that game.
Author: CodyTrailers: Cliffy B takes us through a storm of bullets
Yeah, it’s the same level shown at E3, but Dude Huge’s in-depth commentary makes it worth watching. There are a few things I don’t like about the game, like the macho power-fantasy attitude, but all things considered, Bulletstorm looks like a hell of good time. I can definitely see the range of attacks wearing a little thin after a while, though, so hopefully People Can Fly adds some more depth to the combo system.
Author: CodyTrailers: That other game from Epic looks pretty awesome
Everybody knows about Gears of War 3, but I won’t blame you if Epic’s other game in development, Bulletstorm, has slipped under your radar so far. Hopefully this trailer will open your eyes to the work that Epic is helping Polish game studio People Can Fly to accomplish. Firstly, I love the art direction of Bulletstorm. What’s even better is that the gameplay actually seems to match the craziness and uniqueness of the visuals. Sure, you’re still just shooting guys at the end of the day, but it looks a hell of a lot more fun and creative than most of the stuff on the market. Oh, and when Cliffy B says that Firefly is an influence on the game (interview below), then that automatically puts it on the must-watch list. Look for Bulletstorm on Xbox 360s, PS3s, and PCs sometime next year.
