call of duty: black ops
Reactions: George Romero has possessed Black Ops’ “Escalation” pack
What’s that? It’s ghosts that possess things, not zombies? Why don’t you drop all the criticism and try writing witty headlines yourself, chief? Ha-aaaa…aa (I’m still working on the evil laugh)! Not so easy when you have to get up off the couch and pause all the senseless zombie-killing for a minute, is it? That’s what I thought, punk.

Man, after watching that Battlefield 3 gameplay in the previous post, this engine seems to be fossilizing before our very eyes. Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy $15 worth of escalating action.

This is the sort of story that I just live to report on. Without me, how would anybody know that Activision plans on releasing a $15 map pack for the latest Call of Duty game? How will they know about the oh-so-surprising timed exclusivity of the Xbox 360 version? How will they know about the standard three…wait a minute…there’s actually five maps and none of them are rehashes of old ones. Way to go Treyarch! Continue reading if you care about map names.

If I had any interest in realistic military shooters right now I would totally be buying this game. Treyarch really seems to have stepped their game up and may finally outdo long-time rival Infinity Ward. And hey, even if they don’t, it’s not like they’ll have to worry about losing even more ground to IW, what with virtually all of their senior staff having left within the past year.
Author: CodyTrailers: CoD: Black Ops is just a shot away
You know how I know this game is big? This trailer was the first thing I saw upon visiting the IMDB today. To be fair, that trailer is totally bad ass and cinematic.
Author: CodyTrailers: CoD: Black Ops gets a MNF commercial
Not as good as last night’s game, but it does make me want to play Metal Gear Solid 3, and that’s got to count for something.
Author: CodyTrailers: CoD: Black Ops’ multiplayer is fresh
Look at that! It would appear as if Treyarch is actually doing some new and exciting stuff in the Call of Duty franchise. Of course, most of that new stuff is just taking tips from other games, but that seems to be enough to set this apart from Infinity Ward entries. I probably still won’t get this, but I can no longer say that it’s just Modern Warfare 2 in a different setting.
Author: CodyTrailers: First look at CoD: Black Ops’ multiplayer
And I can’t see anything of note that distinguishes it from Modern Warfare 2. Heck, it doesn’t even distinguish itself as a Vietnam-era game. When is Treyarch going to grab the bull by the horns and make their own strides?

If you ask anybody with half a brain what the best part of the Vietnam era was, you’re likely to hear, “The music, you dummy!” So what does Activision do? Decide that the 60′s didn’t have enough Eminem in them…
