Random: April Fools, sucka!

I hope InsaneBear’s April Fools’ Day joke didn’t put too much of a scare in you. What’s that? You didn’t notice any prank? Yeah, I suppose the prospect of me giving up my writing duties for a life of leisure is too horrific to fathom. You probably just rationalized that I was being a lazy reporter this past weekend and that’s why no new posts were put up. Well, how does it feel to know that you were made a fool of? Now start giving donations if you don’t want this disgusting prank to become a reality!
Author: CodyTrailers: You can’t fake the funk with Dance Central
What a priceless line. But really, most gaming outlets that have had hands-on time with Kinect and its lineup of launch titles agree that Dance Central is the most developed and game-like of the bunch, so it’ll be interesting to see the influence it has going forward. It doesn’t look like my particular cup of tea, but if Grandma’s Boy has taught me anything it’s that drunken Salt and Pepper karaoke is a good time for everyone involved.

“Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in ’83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor.” You should familiarize yourself with this quote, because anybody with any taste will be reciting it whenever Huey Lewis and the News comes up in your Rock Band 3 jam sessions.

According to USA Today, “Rock Band 3 (due for the holidays for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii) expands the virtual band to seven (drums, lead and bass guitar, keyboards, lead vocals and two harmony vocals).”

It’s going to “innovate and revolutionize the music genre” all over again. Sure…

That talentless band doesn’t deserve a picture. I hope the rhythm genre crashes and burns. Whatever happened to the good old days when rhythm games were for weirdos who could only dance if a machine told them the steps?

Shiny bar graphs say things!
Every month brings us another set of NPD numbers for people to analyze and say things about. And this month is no different. Gamasutra’s Matt Matthews (what an awesome name) brings us news that combined retail sales of Rock Band and Guitar Hero are down 49%. Why is that, you ask? People that know more about this than I do blame discounted hardware and an overabundance of SKUs flooding the market. This means people are buying less Rock Band and Guitar Hero in retail stores.
