Reactions: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light to launch without online co-op
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a game that I’ve been looking forward to for the simple pleasure of a good co-op experience. So you can imagine my disappointment upon learning that the Xbox 360 version will release without online co-op or leaderboards. Instead, these features will be patched in for free nearly a month after release to coincide with the September 28th launch date of the PS3 and PC versions.

I’m posting this because I’m interested in the game, but seriously, could that trailer have been any less informative? Alright, so the guns include an assault rifle and a flame thrower. Does that cover it? Is that everything they needed to get out to the public in trailer form? Good Lord…

One of the more interesting titles on the docket for this summer is Limbo, the dark and dreary platformer in the video above. And yeah, I know the video is ridiculously long–just skip through random parts of it so you can get a sense of the great art style, gruesome death animations, and clever puzzling. And I feel weird about feeling that way, but for some reason this game looks like a blast to me. Maybe it’s the fact that it will be an inexpensive co-op experience when it goes for sale on XBLA and PSN later this summer. I will say that I feel sorry for which ever player gets stuck with the non-Lara character, though. His boobs aren’t nearly big enough to maintain interest.

Not enough enormous boobs in your life? Well, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix want to remedy that situation for you with this summer’s Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a completely new (and downloadable) take on the iconic Tomb Raider franchise. Based on the Indiana Jones-inspired name, I’d say they’re off to a good start. The name isn’t the only radical change to the formula, though. The new title is said to have a more arcadey feel that focuses more on addictive gameplay and high scores than story. But not to worry, the classic platforming elements return to the action as well. And best of all, this new isometric take on Tomb Raider is designed around co-operative play. For more details on The Guardian of Light check out this preview.
