Feature: Top 15 games to play over the holidays

First off: no Mario games. We all love Nintendo’s main man, but I could list off the good plumber’s titles ’til the cows come home, and I don’t have any cows…so that might go on for a while. Also, all entries come from this generation of consoles, because frankly, my entire list would consist of GoldenEye otherwise. So with that said, how can you get your gaming fix this holiday season with all manner of trash talking siblings, rambunctious cousins, and overly curious aunts and uncles scurrying around the house?

For all of those scrooges out there who aren’t sold by a phrase like “Goo X2,” Media Molecule’s latest has put out a demo with three playable levels–Rocket Funland, Avalon’s Advanced Armaments Academy and Tower of Whoop. So go ahead and clear enough pirated games from your PS3 for this 2GB training run. You know you want to find out what’s going on inside the Tower of Whoop.

I’m betting that if the police were to raid Media Molecule’s offices some illegal substances might be found. Or maybe they’d discover a much darker secret and reveal that Sony has adopted a policy of child-labor that places the fate of the company in childish imagination.

But really, programmable AI could justifiably be referred to as “the bees’ knees.”

That there is an interpretation of Zone of the Enders. Street Fighter II, a generic Vietnam FPS, and Flow have also been done. I can’t wait to see what people manage to make with this game when it comes out in January 2011. I’m especially excited to see what original content comes about.

I’m beginning to wonder why these companies give games release dates so early in the development schedule. It seems like every year half of the Holiday window’s titles get pushed back to early 2011. And according to GameSpot, that’s just what’s happened with PS3 exclusive Little Big Planet 2. No specific reason was given for the delay other than the standard “best experience for the fans” line. Probably needs more polish and Sony wants to avoid the Holiday competition. Regardless, you can look for Media Molecule’s latest in January 2011.

And boatloads of creativity to go with it. On a side note, if we can actually use a black and white filter when creating levels…awesome.

This game is making me want a PS3 so badly.
Author: CodyReactions: Little Big Planet 2 officially announced
Maybe it’s just that sick-tight trailer talking, but Sony’s official confirmation of Little Big Planet 2, the sequel to one of the most innovative games of 2008, totally has me psyched. I am so wishing I had a PS3 for 2010′s radtacular lineup. But yeah, the followup will be helmed by Media Molecule, the same team that developed the first game, and it will be a PS3 exclusive for “winter 2010.”
