Our Adventures: Lost – “Recon”

You know how despite it’s rarity, the Recon armor in Halo 3 is just a superficial skin that adds nothing of substance to the game? Well, that’s how I feel about this latest episode of Lost. I mean, it’s not like it was necessarily bad, it was just utterly pointless filler.

At several points during tonight’s episode I was on the verge of calling it the worst of the season, but by the end of it, they managed to handle everything in such a way that I’d probably label it the best of Season 6 so far. Michael Emerson is clearly one of the most talented actors on this show and it’s always great to see a character-driven episode with him in it.

Well, I’m officially getting sick of analyzing these every week, because it just makes it all the more disappointing when an episode doesn’t deliver. “Sundown” was exciting enough, but for the love of God, DO NOT PROMISE ANSWERS IN THE PROMOS IF NONE WILL BE REVEALED! Seriously, I can’t think of one question that was answered in this episode. If I were a writer for Lost, I would advise my cohorts from cramming every big revelation into the final month of the season. Unfortunately, though, I am not a writer for the show, and that seems to be the road they’re going down.

Well, yet another week of Lost, and still more questions. I really feel like the season’s getting to a point where at least one major question needs to be satisfied to keep up with all the new ones that are coming at us every week. If the promo for next week’s episode is to be believed, then maybe we’ll finally get an answer or two then. But as for this episode, not a whole lot really happened.

Wow…just wow. Ben Linus as a high-school teacher. Lol. Now if we can move past that, let’s try to examine what was a really great episode. Firstly, I really want to rewatch a bunch of Lost episodes now. It seems to me that each episode this season will mirror a previous episode in some way. “LA X” obviously mirrored “The Pilot,” then there’s “What Kate Does” / “What Kate Did,” and this past episode was an alternate universe take on “Walkabout.” So idk, maybe I should figure out which episodes most clearly define each character and then rewatch them for clues.

Hello there. Hope you just enjoyed yet another episode of tasty Lost goodness. But let’s get right to it and examine what just happened.

Well, now, that was some entertaining television! Consider this a scattered, initial-reaction sort of musing on the two hour opener, and something that I hope to do for every episode from here on out. After last season, when my obsessive researching of the IMDB Lost boards kept me a little too well informed, I won’t be risking the potential to spoil any of my viewing pleasure over there. So while these posts may not have the low down on the latest theories and analysis, I hope to just give my thoughts and pose some of my own questions. I really hope you guys join in on the ponderings with me. But without further ado, my thoughts on “LA X” parts 1 and 2.

Just thought it was a funny picture.
Have fun! And when you get to Jack’s file, you should pick the high-octane action star. And when you have the option to visit Faraday, you need to do it. Or you could just do what you want and let me know how the other options work out.
Author: CodyRandom: The creepiness of Michael Emerson
Michael Emerson–Ben from Lost–was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, and he was kind enough to read us all a little story in his own unique way. It starts around the last minute of the video, and I think it does a good job of showing why Ben is the best character on Lost. I can only imagine what horrors might come to the poor child who listens to that reading voice.
