Feature: InsaneBear’s 2011 Game of the Year

Another year, another reflective diary entry on how many social opportunities I sacrificed for video games…wait, that’s not right! No: this is a celebration of what has probably been the best year of games since 2007. So let’s get down to business and start with the InsaneBear tradition of looking back on the previous year’s games and re-evaluating our opinions in hindsight.

Score: Superb
Difficulty played on: Normal
Time to beat: 9 hours for kampaign
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Loved the most: Without a doubt, the most gratuitously brutal game I’ve ever played.
Hated the most: Playing online is a painful experience for beginners and kasual fighters.
For many gamers who grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, Mortal Kombat became a staple of multiplayer gaming. Before Shooters had taken over the world, it was up to Sports games and Fighting games to offer up some friendly kompetition, and with its obscene gore and humiliating fatalities, Mortal Kombat set itself apart from more sportsman-like titles and gave the trash-talkers of the world a series worthy of their bravado. Unfortunately, the 2000s brought the franchise to the brink of obscurity until this latest entry (number nine to be exact) kame to kapture the over-the-top essence of the series and elevate it to new heights. Mortal Kombat is by no means a flawless game (in fact, it suffers from numerous little issues), but taken as a whole, it offers so much more than the other Fighters kurrently on the market that it will inevitably become the stick with which the entire genre is measured against.

That’s right, kids. Head to Amazon right now to see what this whole L.A. Noire for $40 jazz is all about. While you’re at it, you should probably investigate Mortal Kombat too.

Yeah, that’s a pretty self-explanatory headline. I will say that there’s a major missed opportunity here for an Episode 3 joke. Maybe it’s never going to be released because Chell got creeped out by how silent Gorden is and performed an Awkward Silentality on him, which as we all know, would send Mr. Freeman through a portal and to whatever dimension his voice resides in. Or worse yet, she could have executed a G-Manality. You don’t want to know where his portals lead to.

As you can clearly see in the gameplay footage above, the fellow in the background is intently working at summoning the highly anticipated web series in time for the game’s April 19th release.
Author: CodyTrailers: InsaneBear has snuck its way into Mortal Kombat
You think Scorpion really wanted to pass up that teddy bear? Of course not. The bear was an inside agent sent to infuse Mortal Kombat with a little insanity. Thanks to that bear’s words, we now have what looks like a rather fantacular feature in the Challenge Tower.

What’s in a name? Actually, on second thought, maybe this guy is a noob. I mean, you’d think there’d be more lucrative career options for a guy whose shadow can do stuff for him; he must be new to this realm’s way of life.
