Reactions: OnLive MicroConsole releases Dec. 2nd

Interested in the Cloud computing OnLive service but you’ve been waiting for the ability to hook up directly to your TV? Wait no more, because the MicroConsole TV Adapter is coming December 2nd. According to 1UP:

I’m just going to go ahead and link the story so you can brush up on what exactly OnLive is and get the details on your own. But pretty much, the video game streaming service is coming to PCs and Macs June 17th for $15 a month. That doesn’t count the games you have to rent or buy, which will supposedly sell for lower than retail prices. The OnLive micro-console that allows for direct streaming to TVs won’t be arriving until sometime later this year, and the launch is only for the continental U.S. at this point. 2011 will see the service provide 1080p, 60fps streaming and the possibility of an international launch. I’m not entirely clear on what service will run at when it launches, but it seems unwise to rush this thing to market when it can’t yet compete with traditional gaming consoles on a technical basis. And charging $15 a month, plus games? That’s $180 a year. The price advantage on consoles seems to disappear pretty quickly considering how long console generations seem to last. But yeah, the concept is cool in theory.

So maybe we’re a little late to the party on reporting this Gaikai thing here at InsaneBear, but I just don’t like talking about things that aren’t going to see the light of day for many more months, especially when they sound so similar to other things that aren’t going to see the light of day for many more months. But 1UP posted this nifty video so I don’t have to talk. Enjoy your Mario Kart 64.
Author: CodyReactions: Molyneux talks about Fable, DLC, the industry, and more
While a bit lengthy (20 minutes or so), this Kotaku interview with Peter Molyneux is pretty interesting. He gives his thoughts on a range of issues and gives some hints of things to come in Lionhead’s future. Definitely worth a viewing if you care what an industry vet has to say.

OnLive
Today at GDC a new video games on demand service was announced. OnLive promises to bring high-end PC gaming to even the most modest of platforms. All that is necessary to play games through OnLive is any low end PC with an internet connection, or the Micro Console that will cost “significantly less” than any other gaming system on the market today.
