Trailers: Riddle me this
What passes as a riddle in video games? Puzzle-Platforming with giant spinning blades, of course! But I’m not really complaining; Rocksteady should totally just turn the Riddler’s parts into Akrham City‘s version of AC II‘s Assassin Tombs, but, you know…with more spinning blades.

And for those of you not in the know, that’s a good thing. Watching the interview below makes me feel like Batman: Arkham Asylum was just some tough rich dude while Arkham City is giving that guy a cape and utility belt and cave and…can we just agree that this sequel seems primed to be the superest super-hero game ever?

I wish I had something witty to say but my brain power dive-bombed at about the same time the Batman did.

Sure would be nice to see a glimpse of gameplay, what with the game originally being announced in December 2009. But Giancarlo here sure seems to be jazzed up for the Dark Knight’s upcoming crime-solving adventures, so I suppose we’ll just have to take it on faith that all the stuff he describes is as cool as it sounds.
Author: CodyReactions: Batman: Arkham City will NOT have multiplayer

Contrary to what months of rumors, speculation, and wishful thinking have told us, Game Director Sefton Hill cold-heartedly broke the news (on Valentine’s Day, no less!) that Arkham City will not afford us any excellent co-op adventures. Speaking to IGN, this lonely man triumphantly exclaimed that “Batman: Arkham City is a ‘single-player only’ experience,” before belting out a rather disturbing laugh from the very depths of his bowels. He claimed that Rocksteady Studios’ co-operative experience of breaking our hearts would be much more fun than any in-game feature.

Disappointed that no gameplay is shown, but it’s still a sick trailer. I really like the artistic direction of the city.
Author: CodyReactions: Juicy, succulent Arkham City details

As the title implies, Batman: Arkham City is going above and beyond the confines of 2009′s Arkham Asylum. To be precise, the new game-world, which Gotham’s mayor thought a good place to fence off and throw criminals into, will be five times the size of Arkham Asylum. Reportedly, “every nook and cranny has a story,” despite the world’s larger scale. The city is described as “a mix of Tim Burton’s original Batman movie and a touch of Escape from New York.” So far, so good.
Author: CodyReactions: Arkham Asylum sequel named, dated

Originally announced at the 2009 VGAs, the sequel to the best Batman game ever has an official title and release window now. Warner Bros. revealed on Thursday that Batman: Arkham City will be grappling onto the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC sometime in Fall 2011. It’s good to know that Rocksteady (the team who worked on the original) is taking their time with the project, as the surprise reveal just a few months after Arkham Asylum‘s release had me worrying about a cash in. Very little is known about the game so far, other than the fact that new and old villains have been promised. I’m sure the hype machine will start soon enough, though.

"You want chaos in Arkham? Kill the Batman!"
Score: Great
Difficulty played on: Normal
Time to beat: 12 hours
Loved the most: It makes you feel like Batman.
Hated the most: None of the gameplay is fleshed out enough. Plus it does that stupid finger to the ear thing that Gears of War started for dialogue.
Let’s get this out there right now–historically, licensed super-hero games blow. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that they blow pretty hard. Combine that trend with my favorite childhood super-hero, the Batman, and there’s some potential for bitter disappointment. But Batman: Arkham Asylum succeeds where other Batman games have failed. The top-notch audio and visuals throw you into an engaging world that compels you to see the story through, and you’ll actually feel like Batman for a good portion of it. Unfortunately though, being the best Batman game ever doesn’t save this title from a disappointing lack of depth and some misguided creative direction.
