Feature: The game development dream team

Like this, but with less athletic ability.

What if by some dark, unspeakable magics contractual obligations ceased to exist and every game developer in the industry was suddenly free to work with whomever he or she pleased? What if the stars aligned and money wasn’t an issue and a development “dream team” descended from the heavens? What would it look like? What would its name be? Could we even play one of Valizzard’s (working title) games without our minds exploding from the awesomenesss?

Reactions: Fox won’t be flying on the Wii anytime soon

Fox praying for Mr. Miyamoto to be a playable character in the next SSB game.

In a recent Kotaku article, Star Fox creator Dylan Cuthbert admits that he really isn’t interested in doing a Star Fox game for the Wii. He first cites the size of such a project as being the deterrent, but then goes on to give a more candid response when pressed about the Wii’s motion controls. “The Wii is a bit more of a toy, I think,” he told G4. And if that weren’t enough, Cuthbert reveals a bit of animosity between himself and gaming god Shigeru Miyamoto when asked why some of the Star Fox games took Fox out of the cockpit and put him on the ground. “I think that’s all Miyamoto. Whenever I speak to Miyamoto about Star Fox, he says it’s not meant to be just a flying, sci-fi shooting game. It’s meant to be anything we want to think up. But the core fans don’t want that, but Miyamoto doesn’t really care about that. He wants to make what he wants to make, so he just goes ahead and gets it done.” Sounds like there might be some bad blood there. If there are any Star Fox games in Nintendo’s future, I’d guess that Mr. Cuthbert probably won’t be involved.
