Trailers: Couldn’t the one side just let the other side leave?

I mean, that seems like a fairly sensible solution to this little quibble. There don’t seem to be any claims of atrocities that need to be hidden, and the people that want to escape don’t exactly look like the cream of society’s crop, so why not just let them go? Oh, right! We wouldn’t get to do awesome stuff like this if there weren’t a revolution going on.

Trailers: Brink’s looking pretty classy

Well, not really, when you consider there’s not much class in blatantly ripping off other games (read: Team Fortress 2). And hey, they even managed to do it without retaining any of the humor or personality! Oh, I kid, I kid. Brink is actually looking like one of the more interesting FPSs this year, what with class-based combat that’s more concerned with objectives than kill counts. The support abilities that every class can offer to their teammates should make for an especially fun an co-operative experience. More video below!

Trailers: Brink showcases its abilities

I’d say the most interesting one is jamming a syringe of revitalizing juices into your chest and walking off a few fatal bullet wounds. But being able to slide on pavement without scraping yourself is a close second.

Trailers: Come to class with Brink

And educate yourself on its class structure. Let’s just hope the Soldier class was showing us how not to play when he planted a bomb on that tree. Seriously, what could possibly be so important about that tree to justify making it an objective? Is it a talking tree that says very mean things to passerbys? Is it generating too much oxygen? I suppose we’ll just have to play the game to find out.

Reactions: Brink to release May 17th

Do you like playing games that are fun in a different sort of way but just don’t have the robust communities of other titles as a result of said deviation? Do you like tight-knit communities that gloat over how awesome their game is while defaming everything else? Have you ever considered joining a cult? If you said “yes” to at least two of those questions, then Splash Damage’s class-based Parkour FPS Brink might be right for you. Let’s face it, it’s not going to sell anywhere near the ration of hot-cakes. I’d make the assertion that it won’t even approach the numbers of cold-cake. But still, it is a fairly unique looking game that I think will end up gaining a cult-following, so if you’re interested, it’ll be releasing May 17th.

Trailers: Get an earful of Brink’s arsenal

So whenever somebody in this future utopia gone wrong tells you that your vain obsession with ugly clothes brought the city to ruin and that you should have concentrated on cultivating some sort of talent, you just tell them that you can play a symphony to die for. Muwhahahahaha!

Trailers: Brink’s art style explained

I really do enjoy the environments, but there is just something unsettling about those character models. I wish they would have either stuck with the ultra-realistic look or gone the other way completely.

Trailers: Get the scoop on Brink’s inconvenient truth

And by that I mean listen to some dude talk about how unique his game’s story is even though it sounds pretty cut and dry to me. If they wanted to add some sort of moral ambiguity then they should have had religion play a role. As it is, this just sounds like a communist revolution, and I know which side I stand on there. Oh, and for crying out loud, can they please make some better character models so I can stop focusing on how goofy they look and finally appreciate some of the cool gameplay stuff Splash Damage is doing?

Trailers: Brink can do CG trailers too!

Seriously now, the game is going to look nothing like that. How about we see some actual gameplay so I can determine if the whole “SMART system” will really allow you to do the cool contextual stuff we saw in that pre-rendered crap above?
