take two
Reactions: Is Activision looking to acquire Take-Two?

Were you so glad to hear that Activision had milked the Guitar Hero franchise for everything it was worth before unceremoniously killing it off that you thought to yourself, “Hey, self, wouldn’t it be great if Activision could do the same to some of the industry’s most respected franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and BioShock?”

I won’t waste my time or yours trying to reword this well-written article from Kotaku. Just read it. If you’d like some more perspective to get both sides of the coin, you could read this as well. What I will do, is give some of my thoughts on this potentially industry-shaking news.
Author: CodyTrailers: And the Ballad of Gay Tony hype train begins
The second trailer for the downloadable episode in the past week or so. A big fat “meh” for me. I hope they don’t start flooding the internet with insubstantial trailers like Batman: Arkham Asylum did.

While it certainly won’t pull me away from Modern Warfare 2, it does look like it could be an interesting change-of-pace game if there’s a decent community. I just hope there’s some more strategic modes than death match to take advantage of the unique capabilities of plasmids. On a side note: what ever engine the BioShock games run on is really bad at making believable looking people.
Author: CodyTrailers: Gay Tony’s got Saturday Night Fever
In the first trailer to come out for the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion, “The Ballad of Gay Tony”, Rockstar has apparently prioritized choreographed dancing as a big tick on the back of the game’s virtual box. So, yeah…right. Anyways, I get the feeling that we’ll start to see more DLC like this. Rockstar created such a great, living world with Grand Theft Auto IV, so it only makes sense to put out these mini-stories that don’t necessarily have to deal with the core game’s story. Perhaps the new format will give the developer more creativity in the films they can parody, moving on from crime classics to…dancing classics.

Once you proceed to read the rest of this story, that picture above will be so perfectly fitting that you’ll want to give me money ’cause I’m so money. But onward with the news. First up is news (via Kotaku) that you’ll be able to wield not one, not three, but two pistols in the most anticipated game ever, Modern Warfare 2. Sure, Perfect Dark did this ten years ago, but people seem to get their panties in a ruffle whenever the big franchise like Halo or Call of Duty catch up. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling had this to say about the addition, which was revealed at the GameCrazy convention:

So word on the street is that Bioshock 2 got delayed to the first half of 2010. A bit of a disappointment, but hopefully the game will be better off for it. At least, that’s what Take-Two CEO Ben Feder thinks. “We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve.”

"These are not the bloggers you are looking for." - Kotaku
So I’m going to kind of lay E3 2009 to rest here with a round up of the best looking games coming to a console near you in the year 2009. Sorry Mass Effect 2. You may be the best looking game of an absolutely ridiculous looking 2010, but this list is for games we’ll actually be able to get our hands on relatively soon.
Author: CodyReactions: Red Dead Redemption delayed

GameSpot is reporting that Rockstar San Diego’s follow up to 2004′s Red Dead Revolver, as well as 2k Czech’s Mafia II have officially been delayed in order to “allow additional development time for the titles and to maximize their full potential in terms of the quality of the player experience and market performance.” Take-Two announced the delays earlier today at an earnings report and clarified that the titles are now expected to ship during the first half of the publisher’s 2010 fiscal year, which runs from November 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010. I’m really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption, so it’s a bit of a bummer, but I guess it’s not so bad considering the holiday release window is already packed with top tier games. Sure wish there were some good games coming out over the summer though…
Author: CodyReactions: Bioshock 2 Dated

During a conference call earlier today, Take-Two and 2K let slip that Bioshock 2 is slated to be released on November 3rd in North America and October 30th in Europe. Mark the date, people.
