Trailers: Darksiders II looks pretty gnarly
The first game was a bit of an underground hit, and this one seems to be expanding on the action in all sorts of ways. The only problem I see is that developer Vigil Games has left no maneuvering room for another sequel; where can you possibly go after playing as Death? Famine just doesn’t sound like a very fun video game protagonist…

Before we move on to how out of touch Microsoft’s marketing people are (oh, there’s a trailer below that will blow your mind), let us first discuss the game featured in the above video–I Am Alive. The title’s development struggles have been well documented and there’s certainly reason for concern when we stop to consider that it shifted developers mid-development and transformed from a full-fledged retail game to a downloadable title. And that gameplay does look a little rough around the edges in the graphical department. But I can honestly say that Ubisoft Shanghai’s take on the post-apocalypse is one of my most anticipated games of the year. It’s just fundamentally different from nearly every other game on the market today, and in this humble writer’s hopes, has the potential to revolutionize video games’ take on the post-apocalypse in a very positive way. So dude: seriously, just buy it.

Yup, you read that headline right. Obsidian, developer of many fine fantasy and sci-fi RPGs, is developing a new RPG based on South Park.
Author: RyanTrailers: Saints Row: The Third is insane
With the recent announcement of Grand Theft Auto V and all of its serious, high-brow economic concerns, some of you might be longing for the carefree days of jetpacking around Los Santos. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that GTAV probably won’t be featuring any experimental modes of personal transportation, unlike, say, Saints Row: The Third. If the gameplay above doesn’t convince you how crazy that game is, then the trailer below most certainly will. Seriously…just watch it.

I'm putting all my points into the beard stat!
I’ve got some good news and some bad news folks. We’ll get the unsavory business out of the way first: the Xbox 360 version of CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been delayed from Q4 2011 to Q1 2012. The reasons for the delay were cited as a need for extra polish and, more importantly, a legal dispute between CD Projekt Red and Namco Bandai over international distribution rights for the 360 version. Can somebody please just cast a charm spell and get this game in my hands as soon as possible?

So, E3 happened recently. But, there was also more news that happened last week, and being the insatiable news junkie bears that we are, we decided to talk about that in this podcast as well. So join us in a fun filled podcast that includes discussions on knives and Cody’s mom.

After the debacle that was Stacking, I can’t say that I’m all that eager to dig in to the mech-trodden soil of Trenched. It’s also really not helping when they put out entirely uninteresting trailers like this to promote it. Still, I have to admit a passing interest in the sex-beasts of Route 66. Why doesn’t Double Fine make a game out of that?
Author: CodyReactions: Double Fine unveils Trenched
Oh, my dear, dear Double Fine; after the debacle that was Stacking, a game about mechs is the last thing I wanted to see. Can somebody explain to me what our society’s ridiculous obsession with mechs is all about? I just don’t get it, and I won’t be getting this, even if customization does seem to be a core component.
Author: CodyReview: Stacking

Score: Mediocre
Difficulty played on: No difficulty options
Time to beat: 7 hours for close to 100% completion
Loved the most: Unique and consistent aesthetic direction.
Hated the most: Either the utter lack of anything remotely funny (coming from Double Fine!) or the most annoying title screen music I’ve ever heard.
Hot of the (roller) heels of October’s delightful Costume Quest, Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Studios has released one of the most aesthetically original games in the history of the industry with Stacking, a game based on Russian Matryoshka dolls. The gamble pays off with one of the most authentic and quirky game-worlds you’ll ever occupy, but unlike the developer’s previous foray into the downloadable market, Stacking just doesn’t have enough fun or funny to support the unique world. Simply put, this title doesn’t “stack up” to the Double Fine standard we’ve come to know, and it has me sincerely concerned for the quality of their next game.

So before we get to the new news, I thought I’d just remind everyone that Double Fine’s downloadable title Stacking goes on sale tomorrow for $15, and if my excitement hasn’t been enough to goad you into buying it, then maybe this glowing review from 1UP will get your inner doll-lover (oh, yes, we all know) rustling.
