Author: CodyReactions: Looks like Tomb Raider will have multiplayer

The fine folks over at Joystiq are reporting that Crystal Dynamics is seeking a “multiplayer producer” and a “senior multiplayer game designer” to “Come and work on the new Tomb Raider.” Sounds pretty clear cut to me, and it makes sense considering the competition (Uncharted 3) will have multiplayer.

Ooh, la, la!
That there cover of the upcoming December 11th issue of Game Informer sort of spills the beans a few days early, but it’s not like this was really much of a secret to begin with. We won’t know all of the juicy details until the ‘zine hits the store shelves (and by that I mean until people upload it to the internet for me), but head of Cyrstal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher says we should “forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider. The series reboot, simply titled Tomb Raider, will be “an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.” How this new spin on this will affect the series’ signature “assets” is a mystery for now.

Not enough enormous boobs in your life? Well, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix want to remedy that situation for you with this summer’s Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a completely new (and downloadable) take on the iconic Tomb Raider franchise. Based on the Indiana Jones-inspired name, I’d say they’re off to a good start. The name isn’t the only radical change to the formula, though. The new title is said to have a more arcadey feel that focuses more on addictive gameplay and high scores than story. But not to worry, the classic platforming elements return to the action as well. And best of all, this new isometric take on Tomb Raider is designed around co-operative play. For more details on The Guardian of Light check out this preview.
