Reactions: Resident Evil creator works for Bethesda now

Hmm, well this is certainly an interesting and unanticipated development. 1UP is reporting that Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax has acquired Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks, meaning that the revered father of Resident Evil will be publishing games under the Bethesda name from now on. What’s even more interesting is the notion of Mikami using his creative talents in tandem with the id Tech 5 engine, which id is only making available to fellow Zenimax studios. Mikami has said that Tango’s first game won’t be released for “about three years,” but that won’t stop me from eagerly awaiting it.

Reactions: ZeniMax Media Buys id Software

Creators of such wonderful FPSes as Doom, Wolfenstein, and the yet to be released Rage, id Software, were purchased by the parent company of Bethesda Softworks (creators of such wonderful RPGs as Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), ZeniMax Media.
